Jerome Hudson, a black American, talks about his experience attending the Glenn Beck rally in Washington last Saturday:
Like most Americans, I’ve had enough with this administration’s policies. I was fed up and fired up.
I am even more so in the wake of the most moving gathering I’ve ever been privileged to be a part of.
At one point, some of the people attending the Rev. Al Sharpton’s “counter rally,” coined “Reclaiming King,” stopped me. I guess they must have been judging me by the color of my skin not the content of my character, because they asked if I was going to come join them.
“No, I won’t be there,” I told them. “Why?” one of them asked with a grimace on his face. I looked at him and said, “I want to be where the Lord is and the Lord is in this place.”
One of the older black women in the group asked me if I felt like I was “selling out” for being one of the “tokens” in the Beck rally crowd?
I laughed and said “Ma’am, Al Sharpton is a pretender. He is going to tell you to pretend that the color of your skin matters. He is going to ask you to ignore the now overwhelming proof that 50 years after the Civil Rights movement, blacks are now destroying each other faster than the KKK could have dreamed.”
As I walked away, the group stood frozen, not knowing how to reply.
Read the whole thing here. Isn’t it ironic that this black man did not have felt like an outsider among the largely white crowd at the Beck rally, but would have felt completely out of place at the Sharpton mess.

Even the urging of Education Secretary Arne Duncan couldn’t make people show up for Al Sharpton’s “Let’s Divide America” rally:
President Obama’s top education official urged government employees to attend a rally that the Rev. Al Sharpton organized to counter a larger conservative event on the Mall.
“ED staff are invited to join Secretary Arne Duncan, the Reverend Al Sharpton, and other leaders on Saturday, Aug. 28, for the ‘Reclaim the Dream’ rally and march,” began an internal e-mail sent to more than 4,000 employees of the Department of Education on Wednesday.
Sharpton created the event after Glenn Beck announced a massive Tea Party “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial, where King spoke in 1963.
The Washington Examiner learned of the e-mail from a Department of Education employee who felt uncomfortable with Duncan’s request.
Although the e-mail does not violate the Hatch Act, which forbids federal employees from participating in political campaigns, Education Department workers should feel uneasy, said David Boaz, executive vice president of the libertarian Cato Institute.
“It sends a signal that activity on behalf of one side of a political debate is expected within a department. It’s highly inappropriate … even in the absence of a direct threat,” Boaz said. “If we think of a Bush cabinet official sending an e-mail to civil servants asking them to attend a Glenn Beck rally, there would be a lot of outrage over that.”
I’ll vote for the first Republican presidential candidate to vows to eliminate the Education Department. It does nothing but suck up taxes and promote socialism.

More news from the “most ethical Congress in history“:
Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide’s two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers’ causes.
The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member’s district.
Johnson, a Democrat, denied any favoritism when asked about the scholarships last week. Two days later, she acknowledged in a statement released by her office that she had violated the rules but said she had done so “unknowingly” and would work with the foundation to “rectify the financial situation.”
Initially, she said, “I recognized the names when I saw them. And I knew that they had a need just like any other kid that would apply for one.” Had there been more “very worthy applicants in my district,” she added, “then I probably wouldn’t have given it” to the relatives.
The Congressional Black Caucus is a scam and has been for many, many years. In this day and age there’s absolutely no reason for a race-based caucus to exist in Congress.

I guess they figure if they keep screaming it sooner or later it will be true:
A civil rights activist and former congressman equated the Tea Party with the Ku Klux Klan today as he blasted a conservative rally planned in Washington, D.C., this weekend.
The Rev. Walter Fauntroy, the non-voting delegate who represented the District of Columbia from 1971 to 1991, called on African-Americans to organize a “new coalition of conscience” to rebut the rally scheduled for Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial featuring Fox News pundit Glenn Beck and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
“We are going to take on the barbarism of war, the decadence of racism, and the scourge of poverty, that the Ku Klux — I meant to say the Tea Party,” Fauntroy told a news conference today at the National Press Club. “You all forgive me, but I — you have to use them interchangeably.”
Fauntroy attempted to explain the comparison to white supremacists by saying that organizers behind the “Restoring Honor” rally are the same people who cut audio cables from a sound system the night before the historic March on Washington and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial.
“The same people who cut the cables on the night before the march, that we paid $66,000 for a sound system, they cut it,” Fauntroy said. “Now from Fox News and elsewhere, they are seeking to turn the world back.”
Fauntroy, who is credited as one of the chief organizers of the March on Washington, remembers Aug. 28, 1963, as the “most important date of the 20th century.”
Important, yes. Most important…hardly.
This event really has the old school racial grievance crowd in a tizzy. The idea that a conservative would hold a major rally in that place on that date just is more than they can handle. It’s too bad they never listened and learned from what Dr. King actually said that day.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the radio host whose advice show is one of the most listened to shows in the country, tried to make a philosophical point about the use of the word “nigger” and ran into some trouble:
Talk radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger is apologizing after using the N-word several times on-air this week.
Schlessinger said on her website Wednesday that she “didn’t intend to hurt people” and that she realized she made “a horrible mistake.”
“I articulated the N-word all the way out – more than one time,” Schlessinger said. “And that was wrong. I’ll say it again – that was wrong.”
During Tuesday’s show, Schlessinger used the N-word after talking to a caller named Jade who complained that her husband’s friends made racist comments about her in their home.
When the woman asked if the N-word was offensive, Dr. Laura said “black guys say it all the time,” then went on to repeat it several times.
Schlessinger said she used the word to suggest how often she hears it, suggesting that it should not automatically be cause for offense.
Radio Equalizer has more on the story including a transcript of the conversation Dr. Laura had with the caller. For most radio hosts who are trying to have a serious discussion of an issue this wouldn’t have been a problem, but because Dr. Laura has espoused conservative positions the liberal media is in full cry. And because she used the actual word “nigger” instead of the politically correct euphemism “N-word” she’s now the target of the usual racial grievance crowd.
It’s clear from the transcript that she wasn’t calling anyone a “nigger” as actor Michael Richards did in an on-stage rant, nor was she referring to anyone with racially inflammatory language as Don Imus did. She was discussing the fact that the word is so frequently uttered by black comedians and such it can’t possibly be racist.
The local news did a report on it last night and without revealing all the context of the conversation you would have thought she’d been riding through the streets wearing a white hood and carrying a burning cross. However, the viewers of the station are not that easily duped, and when they ran an online poll on the subject here’s what the results look like this morning:
In case you’re having trouble reading that, it’s 75.7% NO. The audio of the conversation that the local news has on their website was provided by Media Matters, a leftist organization that spends their days listening to conservative shows trying to find something they can claim is offensive. They’re a bunch of cranks.
My view – either the word “nigger” is racist or it’s not. If it is, it’s wrong for anyone to use it. However, if some people are allowed to use it, such as black comedians who seem to find a use for it in every other sentence, then it’s okay for everybody and Dr. Laura’s discussion of the subject and use of the word in that context was completely acceptable. She had nothing to apologize for.

Harry wins for this statement at a recent event involving a largely Hispanic audience:
“I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be Republican.”
How is that any less offensive than saying all blacks look alike or all Asians are bad drivers (yes, you can make an argument for that second one)? No Republican could even make a blanket racial statement like that and get away without a public flogging from the media and political class. They’d be out of a job in a flash.
However, in Democratland people are not individuals, they’re part of groups, and all members of those groups are expected to vote and think alike. That’s why liberal heads explode whenever a conservative black, gay or feminist shows up. They’re not acting according to the playbook.
Will this hurt Harry? Of course not. He and other Democrats will still get a large share of the Hispanic vote, especially after stringing them along with the Arizona lawsuit and the denunciations of enforcing our immigration laws. However, Harry’s comment is a good window into Dem thinking.

We can’t all be Barack Obama:
The former longtime mayor of Memphis, who unabashedly campaigned for voters to send him to Congress because he is black, was overwhelmingly defeated by the white incumbent in today’s 9th District Democratic primary.
With 78 percent of precincts reporting, U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen had 54,897 votes, or 79 percent, to Willie Herenton’s 14,254 or 21 percent.
Herenton had said he wanted the victory to diversify Tennessee’s all-white, 11-member congressional delegation.
Cohen is the guy who tried to join the Congressional Black Caucus and was rejected because he’s a man of pallor.
But that’s not racist, of course.

A company which exists because of taxpayer’s money shouldn’t be making political donations to anyone, but especially not to organizations whose membership is restricted by race:
When General Motors went through bankruptcy last year, it suspended its political donations. Now that it’s owned by the U.S. government, it’s donating to lawmakers’ pet projects again.
The carmaker gave $41,000 to groups associated with lawmakers, the vast majority of it — $36,000 — to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the company reported on a disclosure form last week. The CBC Foundation is a charity with 11 members of the Congressional Black Caucus on its board.
“We’ve always given to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation as far back as anyone can remember,” said Greg Martin, GM spokesman. “Our commitment remains unabated, and we continue to be a proud supporter of their work to advance economic development in communities throughout the U.S.”
So, are they planning to give to the Aryan Nation or La Raza too? Might as well hit the racist trifecta.

I read this story from Indiana this morning at the hotel and it just infuriated me:
Sgt. Matthew Grimes was asked to give a presentation to a church audience on July 24 at Municipal Gardens, in the 1800 block of Lafayette Road.
During the presentation, an altercation broke out in the crowd, and Grimes intervened. The officer was thrown to the ground and drew his Taser, ready to stun one of the people involved, police said.
At that point, someone stepped in and told the officer that the incident had been concocted to test the reaction of the officer to the situation, police said. Grimes suffered severe back spasms after the incident and was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment.
James Harrington, pastor of the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, said he set up the scenario to test a white officer’s reaction to a fight between two black men.
“Their job is to protect and serve, and even though they have families and children, that they don’t put any regard to their safety,” Harrington said. “I don’t think it was dangerous because it was in a controlled environment.”
Harrington denied that the officer was injured.
Everyone who knew about this should be charged at the very least with reckless endangerment, and those who injured the cop should be hit with assaulting an officer. The pastor should be fired.

Read this first:
Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week.
Sherrod made the announcement in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention.
So, the woman who’s suing for being called a racist makes her announcement at a racially segregated convention. Irony.
